New Student Orientation Sessions

Get ready for your first semester by attending an in-person New Student Orientation Session! We will:

  • give you a look at life on campus through activities

  • walk you through the new student checklist

  • introduce you to student services which support your Douglas journey

Come to connect with peers and have your questions answered! Please choose the one offered by your faculty. If its schedule does not work for you or if there is not one being offered for your faculty, attend a General Orientation Session. If you are unsure which faculty you are in, check out the Programs webpage. All are listed in PST time.

*International new students are expected to attend a Faculty or General Orientation Session mentioned here PLUS a New International Student Orientation Session mentioned in the next section.

New International Student Orientation Sessions

Join ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½International for our in-person orientation for international students! 

At this orientation session, you will learn more about ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½International and how we support our international students throughout their time at Douglas. 

What you can expect:

  • Hear from our International Student Advising Specialist, who will share important immigration and academic information.
  • Listen to a panel of current international students who will talk about their journey to studying in Canada and at Douglas.
  • Take part in a campus activity where you will meet your peers, explore campus services and have a chance to win prizes!

Our orientation workshops set you up for success at Douglas College. Check out the workshop offerings below and be sure to register for the ones that are of interest to you. All are listed in PST time.

For domestic students

Learn how to register for courses by attending a Registration 101 Workshop online! You will learn how to choose your courses, when to register for courses and how. This is also an opportunity to ask Enrolment Services Advisors questions about course registration. Content of the workshops on June 26 and July 8 are the same.

Please note that information shared in this workshop is not applicable to international new students due to a different course registration procedure.

In this workshop, learn why academic integrity is important in your studies and the risks and consequences of academic misconduct. Find out what is expected of students at Douglas College, including the mandatory course DCUE 0100 - Academic Integrity.

For international students

A casual welcome to our first-semester international students! We will introduce you to our ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½International team and the services we can provide you to help you throughout your time at Douglas. We will also cover Canadian culture and tips for settling into your new home.

Planning on Travelling to Canada? There are a few things to be aware of before you make an informed decision. Point of Entry update, travel documents, booking your flight, arriving in YVR and more.

Overview of important documents, enrolment status, working eligibility, SIN, and PGWP.

Studying in Canada can be very different than your home country. Attend this workshop to learn about tips for success and pitfalls to avoid.

In collaboration with the Career Center, we will introduce you to some of your options for career skills and support at Douglas College.

Speak with current Mentors and learn more about their experience of being a ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½student! Learn more about our Mentorship Program and how to be matched with a senior international student who can mentor you through your first semester at Douglas.

Online orientation course

DCUE 0200 - New Student Orientation is a self-paced online course designed for new ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½students. It lives on and it covers all the basics of how to get ready for your first semester here. Learn about all the new student essentials such as how to get your student ID card and where to get your textbooks. Discover the students services available to you. Plus, find out how you can get involved in the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½community.

This online course should not be considered a substitution of the in-person Orientation Sessions mentioned above.

All new students will be automatically enrolled into this course in August. Please check under the "Courses" section on your Blackboard.
